The Exhibition

The Art Club of McKinney proudly presents its 2026 Spring Show ‘Seeing Red’, open to the public during regular operating hours Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th, at the Collin County History Museum 300 E Virginia St, McKinney, TX 75069.

Exhibit Concept

The Spring Show provides a platform for both emerging and established Art Club members to showcase and sell their original creations. This event aims to entertain, educate, and foster connections among the public, members, and their families and friends.


This year’s theme is Seeing Red — incorporate a subtle touch or a bold, expressive splash of red in your artwork!

People’s Choice Award

Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite piece in the show. The People’s Choice Award, which includes a $250 cash prize, will be presented to the artist whose work receives the most votes. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the Artist Reception on Saturday, March 28th. Artists are not required to be present to win.

Submission Deadline: Friday, March 20th 11:59pm CST 

Art Drop Off at Collin County History Museum: Thursday, March 26th 4-6pm

Mixer: Friday, March 27th 5-7pm

Artist Reception & Awards Program: Saturday, March 28th 5-7pm

Art Pick Up at Collin County History Museum: Sunday, March 29th 12-2pm

Entry Guidelines

· Submit work online: https://pci.jotform.com/form/253394334813156

· Submissions to this member-only show are limited to two works of art per member. 

· All entries must be original in concept and rendering by the artist submitting the work, and not have been entered in past Art Club-sponsored shows. 

· No wet artwork will be accepted. 

· 2D artwork must be framed and securely wired for hanging prior to drop off. Canvas works do not need to be framed but must be wired for hanging.

· No saw-toothed hangers allowed. Non-wired works will not be accepted.

2D artwork must not exceed 18” x 24” framed. Oversized work must be approved prior to the exhibit. Contact Cindy Luvender, Show Chair, cindyluvender@gmail.com for information.

· 3-D artwork must be fully stable and self-supporting or be wired for hanging. The combined dimensions (height + width + depth) of 3D artwork must not exceed 70”. 

· Labels must be filled out completely and legibly, and attached to each piece of art prior to drop off - in the top right corner on the back for 2-D work and underneath for 3-D work.

· Artists retain copyright of their artwork, but once accepted into the show, images of the work become part of the Art Club of McKinney archives and may be used in publicity only for this and future shows. 

· Your art may be priced for sale. The agreement of sale is between the artist and the buyer. If your work is for sale, please include a way to be contacted, whether by email or phone, on your submission form, as well as your label(s).

· If your artwork is sold during the show, it must remain on display for the full duration of the exhibition.

· Your art may be pre-sold but once submitted to the show, it must hang for the duration of the show. 

· The artist is responsible for reporting sales tax to the State of Texas.

Fees

The fees for entry are $25 for one entry and $35 for two entries. Fee is payable upon submission.

Art not picked up after the close of the show may be subject to a $10/day late charge. 

Categories

  Members may submit entries into any of the following seven categories they deem appropriate. *Organizers of the show reserve the right to reassign a work to a different category if necessary.


1. Dry Medium - Pen/Pencil/Colored Pencil/Pastels/Charcoal

2. Alcohol Ink/Watercolor

3. Photography

4. Oil

5. Acrylic

6. Mixed Media

7. Sculptures in Ceramics, Pottery, Wood, Papier Mâché, Fibers, Fabric, Macramé, Jewelry, Glass, Leather, Textiles

Guest Judges

This year’s Spring Show will feature three judges from the DFW area, each bringing diverse creative backgrounds and professional judging experience. Artists have the optional opportunity to receive feedback from the panel—simply select this preference on your entry form. Judging criteria will include overall artistic merit, impact, design, and technical skill, as well as the creative and effective use of red, in alignment with the 2026 theme: “Seeing Red.”

Awards

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be given in each category in addition to one overall Best in Show. 

Each place shall receive an award ribbon and a cash prize: 

Best in Show - $125

First Place - $100 

Second Place - $75

Third Place - $50

  

*A minimum number of entries per category required for 1st and 2ndand 3rd place awards. Categories with fewer submissions may be limited to 1st prize only or 1st and 2nd.
